In order for a market to operate properly, transparency is required. One of the shortcomings of the American healthcare system is a lack of transparency in the cost of virtually anything, including medical procedures, pharmaceutical products and devices. Data on outcomes and quality are equally elusive. Stakeholders must hold one another accountable to provide clear and accurate information necessary to improve outcomes, lower costs and improve the patient experience.
